La chorégraphe de renommée internationale, Holly Small, a conçu un projet de spectacle pour lequel elle a invité Recto-Verso à collaborer dans le but d’élaborer un espace scénographique qui agit comme écriture initiale et trame de travail.

La première intention de Holly Small est d’explorer le croisement des approches de chacun des concepteurs, dans la tradition la plus pure de la création multidisciplinaire. RADIANT sera élaborée autour d’un dialogue cinétique entre l’environnement sonore et visuel et les danseurs. Empruntant, entre autres, au langage de la musique aux fins de ses directives chorégraphiques ( “ attaque ”, “ sustain ”, “ decay ”), Holly Small vise le développement de dispositifs sonores et visuels ayant pour effet de commander le mouvement et le non-mouvement, de solliciter une certaine idée de vitesse, parfois dans la fixité.

Two visions of starking images. …The suprême craftsmanship of Small’s mesmerizing Radiant shows the full weight of her wisdom and expérience. Known as a collaborative choreographer, she has surrounded herself with a gilded creative team. ..there are the ever-changing projections of an indistinct body, sometimes a corpse, sometimes a newly born being, wrapped in diaphanes material and floating in space. The pièce is build around the play between the images on the screen and the live dancers on the stage. A secondary layer is the music score, at once mournful and tranquil, set against the breathing of the dansers, which is both laboured and joyous. This is the rich dichotomy of Radiant, where birth and death are interchangeable yet seductive images.
